We Believe
- That the Bible is the inspired Word of God a revelation from God to man, and the only infallible written rule of faith and conduct, superior to conscience and reason, but is not contrary to reason. (2Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
- That there is only one True God who has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent One, embodying the principles of relationship and association, i.e., as Father in Creation, Son in Redemption, and as the Holy Ghost in the Church. (Deut. 6:4, Isa. 43:10-11; Mark 12:29; 1Timothy3:16).
- In the Deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth and sinless life, in His vicarious death and atoning blood; in His bodily resurrection, and His ascension, and His Second Coming to earth to rule in righteousness.
- In repentance, as the product of godly sorrow for one’s sins as stressed throughout the scriptures (2 Cor. 7:10). It leads to forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38;3:19: 5:32), and produces worthy fruits (Matt. 3:8; Luke 3:8).
- In water baptism by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38 8:16; 10:44-48; 19:5; Romans 6:3- 4; Galatians 3:27; and Col. 3:17).
- In the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost. That sanctification is the will of God for all believers, and this should be earnestly pursued by the believer walking in total obedience to the Word of God (1 Cor. 1:2; Hebrew 2:11; 10:10; 2 Thes. 2:13; 1 Peter1:2).
- In partaking of the Lord’s Supper, consisting of Bread and Wine (Gen. 14:18).”As often as yea eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he comes,” (1Cor. 11:26). (See also Matt. 26:26-29; Mark14:22-25; Luke 22:17-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-32). In the Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic),Inc. the Lord’s Supper is usually observed by us every first Sunday of the month.
- In washing each other’s feet after the Lord’sSupper (St. John 13:3-17).
- In giving of tithes and offerings. Tithe is the tenth of one’s earnings. An offering is given of one’s free will in honor and as a sacrificeto the Lord’s work, and may exceed the amount given for tithes.
- In the blessed hope for the saints, the rapture of the Church at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
- In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the one to everlasting life with Jesus Christ, the other unto everlasting damnation with the devil and his angels
Our History
God has brought the True Church of Jesus Christ Fellowship “a mighty long way” from the small group of men and women formed in the house of the late Pastor Evans Lloyd Stewart. Here is our journey:
Pastor E. L. Stewart – January 1977 – April 2006
Yes, it all started with Pastor Stewart, his wife Missionary Vira Stewart and Missionary Eva Williams working for the LORD by having services in the Stewart family’s Richmond Hill home. As the gathering began to grow, the team sought accommodation at 31 Scarlet Road. GOD continued to use HIS servants to build and work for HIS kingdom and the charter was received as well as corporation by-laws and seal in 1978 recognizing us as a religious assembly.
On December 23rd, 1979, it was time for the church to move upward and into their new place of worship at 115 Simpson Avenue in Toronto. GOD’s blessings continued to flow with the saving of souls and the witnessing of those receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost despite the trials and testing of the enemy. The urgency to secure a permanent place of worship was inevitable. 96 Highview became the temporary, rented place of worship on November 1st, 1991. The saints had no idea what GOD had in store!!!!
Final purchase papers were signed on November 26th, 1993 by trustees making 250 Warden Avenue the new, permanent home for the True Church of Jesus Christ Fellowship (or so we thought). The church was dedicated in June 1994 after months of preparation by the overjoyed saints. As GOD promised, he added to the church and once again a larger worship centre was needed.
In March 2004, by GOD’s divine grace, he returned the True Church of Jesus Christ Fellowship to 96 Highview and made the once rented, temporary home our new, permanent home and it is where our ministries and work for JESUS continue today.
Through and with the leadership of Pastor E.L Stewart, founder and visionary of the True Church of Jesus Christ Fellowship, many people discovered their destiny and purpose in GOD. Pastor E.L. Stewart was no ordinary man and stood for mentoring future ministers, young people and leaders as he continued to serve and seek the LORD for direction and inspiration. Our dear Pastor went to be with the LORD on April 2nd, 2006. His legacy and vision will continue to live as we endeavour to uphold this ministry.
